Marley Live
The lightweight, user friendly show monitoring app for live sound.
Marley Live is a powerful yet easy to use macOS app that gives sound engineers complete real time visibility of their show. Sound levels, QLab cues, Dante devices, radio mics and your whole crew are brought together in one clean, intuitive dashboard. It’s built natively for the Mac and designed to be fast, reliable and lightweight, so it stays out of your way and lets you focus on the show.
Whether you’re mixing theatre, concerts or corporate events, Marley Live tells you the moment something needs your attention.
For Macs with Apple silicon running macOS 27 or later. Free version included; one licence unlocks the full version for your whole crew.
Real Time Sound Level Metering
Turn any measurement microphone and audio interface into a professional grade sound level meter in minutes.
- Big, bold, glanceable readout. The live SPL is displayed as a large, high contrast number you can read from across the booth, with the peak level right underneath.
- Industry standard weighting. Switch instantly between A weighting (the standard for noise exposure), C weighting (for bass heavy content) and Z weighting (completely flat).
- Fast and Slow response. Fast reacts within an eighth of a second. Slow gives you a smooth, steady reading averaged over one second.
- Smart statistics. Peak, Max and Leq are tracked automatically from the start of every session and can be reset with one click.
- Colour coded warnings. The display stays clean and neutral at normal levels, then turns orange when things get loud and red when they get too loud. You set the thresholds. Every status is also written in words, so it’s fully accessible and never relies on colour alone.
- Overload protection. Marley Live instantly flags input clipping, so you always know whether you can trust the reading.
- Rolling level graph. See the last 30 seconds, 1 minute or 2 minutes of level at a glance.
Simple, Guided Calibration
Accurate readings with no guesswork.
- Step by step calibration assistant. Place your microphone in an acoustic calibrator, enter its level and Marley Live does the rest. Built in checks catch a missing calibrator, an unstable tone or an overloaded input before anything is saved.
- Microphone correction support. Import your microphone’s calibration file and Marley Live automatically corrects both the spectrum and the dB SPL reading for a flatter, more accurate measurement. Built in safety limits stop a faulty file from causing problems.
- Always honest. If your microphone isn’t calibrated, Marley Live tells you clearly, and one click takes you straight to the fix.
Advanced Frequency Analysis
Professional analysis tools in a streamlined, easy to read interface.
- Dominant frequency display. Instantly see the strongest frequency in the room, which is perfect for spotting problem tones.
- High resolution spectrum. View your audio from 31.5 Hz to 16 kHz as bars or a smooth line, at 1/3, 1/6, 1/12 or 1/24 octave resolution, with peak hold.
- Spectrogram view. A scrolling, colour mapped view of your frequency content over time.
Intelligent Feedback Detection
Catch feedback before your audience does.
Marley Live’s feedback detection continuously analyses the spectrum for the telltale signs of feedback: a single tone that rings out above everything else, holds its pitch and has almost no harmonics. When it finds one, a clear warning appears showing the exact frequency, so you know which band to pull. Musical notes are ignored, which keeps false alarms to a minimum. Detection pauses automatically while you calibrate and can be switched off whenever you like.
Seamless QLab Integration
Plug and play with QLab 5.
- Automatic cue tracking. Marley Live connects to QLab over OSC and shows what’s playing, on the same Mac or anywhere on your network.
- Lightweight by design. Marley Live listens for cue events instead of constantly asking QLab for updates, so it adds no noticeable load to your show machine.
- Per cue analytics. Every cue is logged with its duration, Peak and Leq, giving you detailed insight into every moment of your show.
- Timecode display. See the timecode QLab is generating, with frame rate and LTC or MTC format, accurate to about a frame.
Dante Network Monitoring
Peace of mind for your audio network.
Marley Live automatically discovers the Dante devices on your network and shows each device’s model, manufacturer, firmware and address, where the device provides them. If a device drops out, the screen flashes red, the device name appears on screen and the event is logged with a timestamp. It’s completely read only, so Marley Live can never change your Dante routing.
Wireless Mic Monitoring
Never miss a dropout again.
Connect your Sennheiser EW-DX and ew G4 receivers and Marley Live keeps watch over every channel, alerting you to:
- mic dropouts, shown in red under the current cue
- receivers that stop responding
- low RF signal and low batteries, shown in orange
Smart filtering means you only see what matters. Nothing appears while your mics are fine, and switched off packs or spare channels never trigger false alarms. Marley Live is read only, so it works seamlessly alongside Sennheiser’s WSM software.
Crew Mode: Connected Collaboration
Keep your whole team on the same page.
- Primary and Secondary roles. One Mac at FOH measures the room and instantly shares the level, spectrum, cues, Dante alerts and radio mic alerts with every other Mac running Marley Live on the network.
- Zero setup networking. Macs on the same network find each other automatically.
- Built in crew chat. Message the whole crew in real time. Urgent messages flash on screen until someone clicks Got It, and the sender sees exactly who acknowledged.
- One click quick alerts. Send Mic dead, Swapping pack, Feedback, Stand by or Done instantly, automatically tagged with the mic and the current cue.
- Automatic reconnection. If the connection drops, Marley Live tells you and reconnects on its own.
Sessions, Recording and Reporting
Capture every show in full detail.
- One click sessions. Start a session before the show and Marley Live tells you how many hours of recording your disk can hold.
- Comprehensive recording. Microphone audio, level and spectrum are captured ten times a second, along with every cue. Prefer measurements only? Turn audio recording off with a single switch.
- Instant session summary. Get a clear overview of the whole performance the moment the show ends.
- CSV export. Export cue history or second by second level history for reports, compliance records or spreadsheets.
Full Show Replay
Relive any performance exactly as it happened.
Open a past show and replay it with the audio perfectly in sync with the meter, spectrum, spectrogram and cue list. Click anywhere on the timeline or on any cue to jump straight there, skip 10 seconds back or forward, or move from cue to cue. It’s the fastest, easiest way to find out exactly what happened and when.
Designed for the Booth
- Show Mode. A clean, distraction free main display optimised for reading at a distance.
- Adjustable brightness. Dim the screen so it doesn’t light up a dark booth.
- Light, Dark or Automatic appearance.
- Accessibility built in. Full VoiceOver support, spoken alerts for feedback and mic dropouts, and support for Reduce Motion.
Unhinged Mode
Because live sound is stressful enough.
Flip on Unhinged Mode and Marley Live swaps its polite status messages for some very honest, very sweary alternatives. It’s strictly optional, off by default and only shows on your own screen.
Automatic Updates
Marley Live updates itself automatically with secure, signed updates, so you always have the latest features and fixes without lifting a finger.
Privacy First
Your show stays yours. Marley Live runs entirely on your Mac, keeps every recording local, never uploads anything and collects absolutely no data. It only connects to the internet to check for updates, and once to activate or deactivate a licence.
- A Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 27 or later
- A measurement microphone and audio interface for accurate readings
- QLab 5 for cue monitoring (5.3 or later for cue start and stop events)
- Dante and Sennheiser monitoring are optional
Move it to Applications
Open the downloaded zip, then drag “Marley Live” into your Applications folder.
Open it once
Double-click Marley Live. macOS will say it can’t be opened, because it isn’t from the App Store. Click Done.
Allow it in Privacy & Security
Open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll to Security and click Open Anyway next to “Marley Live”.
Grant microphone and network access
Allow Microphone and Local Network access when asked. If macOS asks whether Marley Live may accept incoming network connections, click Allow so other Macs in your crew can connect. Marley Live records audio only during a show session, and keeps it on your Mac.
You only need to do this once.
Marley Live. Lightweight. User friendly. Built for the show.
